Fun, friendships and enjoying the great outdoors. That about sums up a deer hunt for youth and disabled hunters hosted by an organization called Hands of a Sportsman. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation was proud to provide funding for the successful gathering in east-central North Carolina.

“There are so many people to thank for their support and help. Big thank you to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation for sponsoring this hunt,” David Hinceman. Hands of a Sportsman founder, told the Taylorsville Times. “The cooks stood over boiling oil and hot cookers and fed over 250 folks at lunch and 200 for supper, all the ladies chipped in and made desserts, served food, and sold 50/50 tickets.”

Seventeen different hunters ranging in age from 11 to 72 went afield with mentors and family members. Nine of them ended up filling their freezers by harvesting a deer. All of them filled their stomachs at a hearty lunch.
