Elk NetworkRMEF Receives Conservation Award

The Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation honored the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation with a 2017 National Lewis and Clark Conservation Award. Specifically, RMEF received the Sacagawea Community and Partnership State of Missouri Conservation Award which recognizes an organization that is focused on exceptional community and partnership building which have led to progressive changes in conservation programs and have made a significant impact to Missouri.

The award states “RMEF was selected because of innovative leadership in the conservation field.  Your organization’s passion and commitment to the conservation legacy will have a lasting effect on conservation programs for generations to come.” (see entire letter below)

RMEF currently has approximately 4,000 members and 17 chapters in Missouri.

Since 1991, RMEF and its partners completed 112 conservation and hunting heritage outreach projects in Missouri with a combined value of more than $2.4 million. These projects protected or enhanced 7,120 acres of habitat. RMEF also provided funding and volunteer manpower in helping its partners reintroduce elk to their native Missouri range in 2011August 16, 2017
