Hunting is a way of life for many families. When deer season rolls around, Lisa Fortner and her eight-year-old daughter Kate of Foxworth, Mississippi, sometimes take their homeschooling studies up into a treestand.
As Kate does her homework, Lisa glasses for big game. During one such recent outing, Lisa spotted a buck and let her daughter know.
“Mama, there’s a second one,” Kate told her mother, as reported in the Clairon Ledger. “I’m going to shoot the second one.”
That is exactly what she did. Kate shot and dropped a 12-point whitetail buck, the sixth deer she shot in her young hunting life.
“When we got home she said, ‘Now, I just want to shoot a mule deer and an elk,'” said Lisa.
