The name of the course is ‘Hunt for Food,’ and that is exactly what it is intended to teach. Hosted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources since 2012, it helps novice hunters learn how to hunt in their quest to get food.
“Hunting is often the best means possible for those interested in acquiring local, natural protein,” John Motoviloff, Hunt for Food instructor, told Edible Milwaukee.
Students can sign up for several different courses, some of which last several consecutive evenings to others that cover several weeks. They learn about hunting and conservation, biology, the life history of species, and they receive hands-on training about how to safely handle firearms.
