You can’t do any better than 10 out of 10. For the tenth time in 10 years, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation volunteers from the North Puget Sound Chapter in Everett, Washington, rolled out the red carpet to help the annual Salmon for Soldiers at their “Day of Honor.”
An armada of 100 volunteer boats hosted 400 veterans and active-duty personnel on a fishing adventure. Volunteers met the vets before dark for registration and to line up the participants with volunteer boat captains. When they came off the water several hours later, the volunteers put on a massive feed.
RMEF supplied thousands of dollars in grant funding over the years to support the event. Salmon for Soldiers, a nonprofit with a “mission of fishin’”, offers free fishing outings to vets with debilitating challenges to help reduce stress while creating new relationships with others. Its founder is an RMEF life member.
