Elk NetworkPoached Elk Carcass Dumped in Tulsa

General | January 10, 2020

It happened on Christmas Eve in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and game wardens need your help finding who did it. Someone removed the backstraps from a small cow/calf elk and dumped the carcass in an alley, not even five miles from downtown Tulsa.

“To me it’s like trying to hide a very unique car,” Carlos Gomez, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation game warden, told the Tulsa World. “It’s hard to imagine someone didn’t say something or some neighbor or someone somewhere didn’t hear about it.”

More specifically, the incident happened behind an old Sears building and shops located at 21st Street South and Yale Avenue. Security footage did not identify a suspect but it showed the carcass dumping happened about 7:18 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Elk are not known to roam or live anywhere close to Tulsa.
