When preparing for a hunt, whether it is a limited entry tag or an annual cow hunt to fill the freezer for the winter, there is a lot that goes into packing and planning. Ensuring you have the right gear gets you on track for success. No single piece of gear is more important than the rest, it is a symbiotic relationship amongst every item in your pack that makes the trip a success, so a careful selection of the right gear is critical.

At the top of your gear list is always a good, reliable sharp knife. And if you are like most hunters, the replaceable blade knife has become a staple in your pack for good reason; you never need to worry about having to sharpen it. The replaceable blade concept is essential because most of the time when you are recovering an animal it is in fading light and then dark by the time you get to field dressing. And for this reason, having the right knife or knives is an imperative part of the process. For an unrivaled experience with a replaceable blade knife, look no further than the Outdoor Edgeâ RazorSafe® modular knife platform. Be sure there is always at least one RazorSafe® knife in your pack when getting your gear together for your next hunt.

The RazorGuide™ Pak-Designed for hunters, by hunters

This kit was launched in the spring of 2022 and is loaded with tools needed to break down just about any big game animal. It comes with the RazorBone™ which is compatible with 350 and 500 blades, the RazorCape,™ compatible with all 300 blades, a compact aluminum handled folding saw and an assortment of spare blades and conveniently rolls up in a waxed canvas roll pack. This kit can easily be packed into the backcountry or offers the option to run quick and grab only a knife and a few blades. Either way, the RazorGuide Pak is essential for all styles of hunting.

RazorBone and RazorMax™ –Big Blade Options

Each boasting a 5.0” replaceable blade, the folding RazorBone is the cornerstone knife in the RazorGuide Pak, while the RazorMax is the fixed blade version. Both knives are compatible with 350 and 500 RazorSafe blades, making these knives ideal for the hunter who goes deep into the woods and is faced with the fact that they will most likely be fully quartering and deboning their game. The boning blade is stiff enough to power through demanding tasks, but the tip has the perfect amount of flex to work around joints and bone, giving you the best yield of meat.

RazorPro™ Family-Three unique knives built for specific needs.

This family of replaceable blade folders features three hefty knives all built around a durable stainless-steel frame with TPR scales and the Outdoor Edge  patented RazorSafe® system. The RazorPro L is a single blade folder and the flagship item in this family. The RazorPro G features a secondary open face gutting/skinning blade that is ideal for cutting below the hide without the risk of piercing internal organs. New for 2023 is the RazorPro S. This model features an aggressive bone saw that will make quick work of tough leg bones and skull caps, replacing the gutting/skinning blade that comes with the RazorPro G.

RazorCape-Compact platform that packs a punch

The only 3.0” knife in the hunting assortment, the RazorCape is a great option for the minimalist and weight-conscious hunter. This compact lock back folder has a lightweight glass-filled nylon handle with rubberized TPR insets for a slip-free grip in all conditions. The caping blade features a finger choil, allowing the user to choke up on the knife while performing detailed cuts. It is compatible with all 300 drop point, gutting and utility blades.

What do the numbers mean?

New for 2023, you will notice all blades and blade holders are marked with a number. This is put in place to ensure you purchase and pack the correct blades for your next hunt. Packaging at the retailer will not only have the number system but will also have a color-coded system matching knives and blades – just another way to ensure that everyone is getting an accurate match of knife and replaceable blades.
