Biologists with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) counted 158 wolves in 22 packs this past winter although they concede the actual number is likely higher. The tally of 158 indicates an increase of 15 percent over the 2018 count of 137.
“The state’s wolf population continues to grow and expand its range, with three new packs in the Blue Mountains south of Interstate 84,” said Roblyn Brown, ODFW wolf coordinator.
