A bowhunter seeking to fill his freezer in northwest Oregon died after the elk he shot gored him with its antlers.
Oregon State Police says Mark David wounded a 5×5 bull elk on private property on Saturday, August 29, 2020, however he did not find the animal before dark. Accompanied by the landowner, he returned the following morning. Together, they found the bull and David tried to kill it with his bow but it charged him and punctured his neck. The landowner tried to help David but he died from the injuries.
Authorities donated the elk meat to the Tillamook County Jail.
