Authorities in Oregon need your help finding the people responsible for two different elk poaching cases.

One of them happened on private property off Stoney Point Road in Vernonia, a small community about halfway between Portland and Astoria in the northwest part of the state. Troopers with the Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife (OSP) received a call early in the morning on September 23, 2022. Someone shot the animal and left it to waste.

Another bull poaching took place north of Bend in west-central Oregon. OSP reports two people, one male and one female, left private property near the intersection of Highway 20 and Tweed Road near Tumalo. The pair did not have permission to be on the property but someone saw them packing out the head and antlers of an elk to a vehicle, believed to be a red pickup, at the intersection of Highway 20 and Innes Market Road.

Further investigation revealed the two people field dressed an unknown size bull elk on private property and a second was found nearby. Archery season ended the previous day on September 25, 2022.

For 2022, Fiocchi partnered with the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation to increase the visibility of poaching incidents in an effort to reduce poaching nationwide.
