Elk NetworkHelp Catch Elk Poachers in Montana, New Mexico

Game wardens with Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks are seeking information on two elk recently dumped near Gallatin Gateway, a small town just southwest of Bozeman. Carcasses from a cow elk and a bull elk with the antlers cut off were found on the south side of Axtell Anceny Road on state land, about four miles west of Gallatin Gateway on Nov. 28, 2021.

Anyone with possible information is encouraged to call 1-800-TIP-MONT. Callers can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

In New Mexico, rangers at Bandelier National Monument about 100 miles north of Albuquerque need help finding the person(s) responsible for illegally killing an elk in the park near Forest Road 289 approximately 3/4 mile from the intersection with New Mexico Highway 4. They say someone also dumped the remains of a mule deer on Los Alamos National Lab land near Gate 3.
