Elk NetworkCrew Uses Backhoe to Pull Elk from Trench

A working crew in northern New Mexico came across a most unexpected barrier in their quest to lay an underground power line.

According to KRQE-TV, a young bull elk got stuck in a narrow trench. It was so wedged that it could barely move, let alone get out. It happened in Angel Fire, New Mexico, about a 200-mile drive northeast of Albuquerque.

The workers tried to lift the animal out with their hands but that did not work. Neither did using ropes so they called in a backhoe that dug another trench so the elk could walk out. Though exhausted, the elk eventually climbed out and walked away.
