‘Cowboys for Conservation’ Welcomes Silverton Casino Lodge

MISSOULA, Mont.—The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and Professional Bull Riders (PBR) have added a new partner—the Silverton Casino Lodge in Las Vegas—to their Cowboys for Conservation program.

The Silverton is now the official headquarters hotel for Cowboys for Conservation as well as the first presenting sponsor of the program’s “Trophy Bulls” competition.

“Silverton’s Livin Lodge is the perfect Las Vegas home to host activities surrounding our partnership with RMEF,” said Sean Gleason, PBR chief operating officer. “Their incredible outdoor themed facility, along with the attached Bass Pro Shops location, are a natural fit with conservation minded RMEF attendees from across the country.”

The Silverton Casino Lodge will provide lodging and host special events for buyers of PBR’s 2009 Built Ford Tough Series World Finals packages being sold now at RMEF fundraisers nationwide. The packages are for two people and include tickets to all three PBR performances during the first weekend of the PBR World Finals as well as VIP pre-party passes before each performance. Also included are VIP tickets to a meet-and-greet luncheon with top PBR riders, official PBR first-weekend wrap party, Trophy Bulls Award ceremony, and three nights lodging—all of which will be held at the Silverton.

“Silverton Casino Lodge is proud to partner with PBR and the Elk Foundation,” said Craig Cavileer, president of Silverton Casino Lodge. “The supporters of PBR and RMEF are part of our core audience, and we hope that our affiliation can help generate public support towards their conservation message.”

RMEF and PBR launched Cowboys for Conservation in April 2008.

“Cowboys for Conservation has generated over $120,000 for the Elk Foundation’s mission—ensuring the future of elk, other wildlife and their habitat,” said Steve Decker, director of field programs for RMEF. “Just as importantly, the program’s new Trophy Bulls competition has generated a ton of excitement and exposure for us.”

As the presenting sponsor of Trophy Bulls, Silverton Casino Lodge is providing major support for a competition pitting riders against stock contractors.

At each Built Ford Tough Series long-round event in the 2009 season, three bulls are designated by PBR as Trophy Bulls. If the rider successfully rides the bull, he gets a Trophy Bull point. If the bull bucks off the rider, the stock contractor gets the Trophy Bull point. At the end of the season, the top three point earners will receive an outdoor adventure of their choice courtesy of RMEF.

“Over 100 million PBR fans across the country are learning more and more about the Elk Foundation through this unique and exciting competition,” said Decker.

PBR is the premier bull riding organization in the world, boasting contestants from the United States, Mexico, Australia, Brazil and Canada. Events air weekly on VERSUS and on NBC and FOX throughout the year. Check local listings for show times.
