Elk NetworkColorado Ranchers Oppose Wolf Introduction

Ranchers in north-central Colorado have a message for those seeking to force wolf reintroductions upon them:  don’t!

“I absolutely don’t want to see it. We have been ranching up here for 100 years. If they bring wolves in, it will wipe out the sportsman’s paradise we have. It will become detrimental to ranching families,” Jody Hill, a rancher in Grand County, told Sky-Hi News. “We get paid on our calf crop. We have enough problems out there between weather and predators. We already have too many lions and bears. We don’t need wolves. Wolves are large animals and hunt in packs. A pack can do a lot of killing.”

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation first raised a word of warning back in 2017 when rumblings started coming out of an animal rights group seeking to push wolf reintroduction into Colorado. RMEF since distributed an open letter to its members highlighting important issues including research that refutes claims of the pro-wolf group.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is already on record as opposing any such reintroduction effort as are commissioners in Moffat County.
