Have you ever had that feeling while out in the wild that something was watching you? That’s exactly what happened to Amaya Simpson. She and her younger brother Cole were practicing their elk calls in northeast Washington when she felt it.
“I just kinda got chills,” Simpson told KHQ-TV. “I turned around and there was a cougar right behind my brother.”
Amaya did not wait, she immediately called her brother to her, nocked an arrow and let it fly. It struck the animal in its ear and went into its back before it ran off into the trees. Family dogs later tracked it down and Amaya’s father put the mountain lion down.
