Temperatures are starting to warm up so many elk are in the process of migrating from their winter range to their summer range. That’s exactly what’s happening in Wyoming.
Mark Gocke, an information and education specialist with Wyoming Game and Fish, recently took this footage of elk making their way from the lower elevations near Jackson toward the high country in the Gros Venture Range where they’ll spend their spring and summer months.
Elk make the twice-a-year migrations in order to have better forage. Many cows will also give birth on their spring/summer range in late May through early June.
