Bull elk like to rake their antlers on small trees, branches or just about anything else during the fall. Unfortunately, one bull elk in southeast Idaho near the small town of Bloomington found out that a fence post is not a good option.
Biologists and conservation officers with the Idaho Department of Fish and Game came across a bull wrapped with a fence post and barbed wire tangled in its antlers. They tranquilized the animal, cut the fencing from its antlers and administered a recovery drug. They then stood back and watched the elk regain its senses, rise to its feet and trot off into the backcountry.
