“Unity is strength…when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.”
A young avid angler named Johnny Morris opened Bass Pro Shops in 1972 in Springfield, Missouri. Twelve years later, four elk hunters Montana founded the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in Troy, Montana.
Today, Bass Pro Shops is the leading retailer of outdoor gear and apparel with more than 100 retail and marine center locations across North America. RMEF has more than 222,000 members, 500+ chapters and carries out on-the-ground conservation work to benefit elk and other wildlife from coast-to-coast.
The two organizations came together more than 17 years ago to form a partnership of sorts. Since then, Bass Pro Shops contributed more than $1.5 million to RMEF’s conservation mission. The bulk of those donations come via its Elk Country Conservation Month which takes place every August.
This year is no different. For the 11th consecutive year, Bass Pro Shops will host the month-long fundraiser for elk and elk country by allowing customers to “round up” their purchases during the month of August.
“We are grateful for and appreciate the continued support of a company that is such a dedicated conservation partner,” said David Allen, RMEF president and CEO. “Bass Pro Shops continues to demonstrate its leadership and commitment to fish and wildlife conservation, our hunting heritage and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation through this promotion.”
