Our Mission WorkProtect. Support. Enhance. Open.

RMEF is dedicated to conserving America’s big game across the United States. Hunters drive this mission, providing vital funding for habitat, wildlife and access.

Advocacy

RMEF works with Congress, federal and state agencies, legislatures and wildlife commissions to champion policies that benefit big game, healthy habitat, public access and the future of hunting. Through strategic advocacy, we ensure our mission is represented at every level of decision-making.

Habitat Stewardship

Quality habitat—food, water, cover and space—is essential to the future of elk, other big game, and countless wildlife species. RMEF and its partners fund and carry out habitat enhancements like prescribed burns, forest thinning, weed treatments, and wildlife water developments. We also provide grants for wildlife management and research to keep herds healthy and thriving.

Hunting Heritage

Ensuring our hunting heritage is central to RMEF’s mission. Hunters—America’s first conservationists—remain the driving force behind wildlife conservation. Through grants that support hunting heritage and conservation education, RMEF helps more people experience the outdoors, learn the skills of hunting and carry forward the traditions that define big game country.

Land Conservation and Access

RMEF works to conserve critical big game habitat, migration corridors, and calving grounds while expanding and improving public access to quality public access opportunities. Our conservation tools include land acquisitions, voluntary agreements, contributions and other strategic actions.

Wildlife Management & Research

RMEF funds wildlife management and research projects that benefit big game across the country. This includes disease surveillance, wildlife-friendly fencing, road management, and scientific studies that expand our understanding of big game habitat, movement, interactions and overall herd health.
