Elk NetworkWisconsin Family Pulls Plastic Jug Stuck from Swimming Bear’s Head

A Wisconsin family trolling along on a leisurely fishing outing ended up landing the big one, so to speak. The husband, wife and son saw a rather large animal swimming in Marshmiller Lake about 100 miles east of Minneapolis, but they could not tell what it was until pulling up alongside.

“We thought it was a black lab in the water and had a jug on its head,” Brian Hurt told KARE-TV. “Then as we got closer my wife is like, ‘No, that looks like a bear.’”

The young black bear kept its head above water even though it was stuck inside a fogged-up, transparent, cheesy puff plastic jug. A first pass yielded no success but the second time Hurt yanked the jug right off its head.

“When I was right over top of it and pulling on it, you could hear the bear huffing and breathing very hard, just gasping for air,” said Hurt.

Finally freed, the bear got its coordinates down, swam to shore and lumbered off into the woods.
