Elk NetworkElk Causes Helicopter Crash in Utah

Two wildlife workers conducting research walked away with minor injuries from their helicopter that crashed in north-central Utah after an elk jumped up and hit the tail rotor. The elk did not survive. It happened near Currant Creek Reservoir about 50 miles west of Orem.

The Australian flight crew was trying to capture the cow with a net to sedate it and then fly it to another location where a biologist would take some samples and place a collar on it.

“Not something you see every day when an elk brings down a chopper” as stated on the Wasatch County Search and Rescue Facebook page.
