There are few technologies as debugged as the bolt-action rifle. Dating back nearly to the introduction of the self-contained cartridge, this action is about as tried and true as it gets.

So, when the riflemen over at Nosler say they’ve built a new bolt-action rifle for the next decade, you want to take a closer look.

We were not disappointed.

The new Nosler Model 21 rifle is filled with cutting-edge features including a wire EDM machined receiver; a nitride-coated, fluted bolt; adjustable TriggerTech trigger; Shilen match grade stainless barrel; and a lightweight synthetic stock. A threaded muzzle allows for the user’s choice of muzzle brake or suppressor.

One of the real innovations, however, lies in the recoil lug. The Model 21’s lug is not machined into the action, or simply sandwiched between barrel and receiver. Instead, the lug features a hex-shaped cutout that mates up with a male version of that pattern cut onto the face of the receiver.

This recoil lug design creates a rock-solid connection and allows for additional thread length on the barrel shank. The result is a securely attached recoil lug that will not twist under recoil and can be firmly bedded into the stock for enhanced accuracy.

The Model 21 will be offered in all the high-performance Nosler calibers, from 22 to 33, along with 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester, 280 Ackley Improved, 300 Winchester Magnum, 375 H&H Magnum and 6.5 PRC.

Nosler’s Model 21 is that special combination of durability, balance and accuracy that makes it an exceptional everyday hunting rifle, but it also showcases the quality and craftsmanship perfect for passing down to generations to come.
