Imagine tuning into a television show only to watch a poaching incident before your eyes. A resident of Wyoming was watching “Hunting in the Sticks” on the Pursuit Channel when something just didn’t seem right. The two men from Kentucky, Ricky J. Mills and Jimmy G. Duncan, took two elk from the wrong Wyoming hunting district.
“I believe the two defendants were driven to get kill-shot footage for the television show and that resulted in their making bad decisions,” Mike Ehlebracht, an investigator with the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, told the Associated Press.
In addition to $31,000 in fines, both men lost hunting and trapping privileges in 44 states for 15 years. They also had to forfeit their elk mounts.
Additionally, their website and Facebook page are now off line. The Pursuit Channel also removed “Hunting in the Sticks” from its website.(Photo source: Lary Beckner/AP)
