The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation recently took part in the first meeting of the Hunting and Shooting Sports Conservation Council (HSSCC) in Washington DC. RMEF Chief Conservation Officer Blake Henning (third from left in photo) was appointed to the 18-member council that also includes 11 alternate members earlier in 2018.

The HSSCC is a federal advisory council that reports directly to the Secretaries of Interior and Agriculture providing recommendations for policies and regulations benefitting the sportsmen’s community. To kick off the initial meeting, the Council elected Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation President Jeff Crane as its Chairman.

The meeting included discussion covering a wide range of issues: wildlife and habitat conservation, increasing access to hunting and the shooting sports on public and private lands, increasing public awareness about the importance and benefits of hunting; recreational shooting; and many other issues concerning America’s sportsmen and women.
