A program in place for more than three decades is seeking greater public involvement to protect its wildlife species. The Nevada Department of Wildlife’s (NDOW) Operation Game Thief relies on residents to report the illegal taking of wildlife.

“Wildlife belongs to the people of Nevada and we want to stress that when someone kills one illegally they are taking it away from those people who are waiting their turns,” Chief Game Warden Tyler Turnipseed told KTVN.

Each of NDOW’s 31 game wardens covers approximately 3,500 square miles.

To report a wildlife violation, call Operation Game Thief at 1-800-992-3030.
