Elk NetworkIdaho Suspends Wolf Bait Proposal

Conservation | September 1, 2017

The Idaho Fish and Game Commission voted down a proposal to allow Idaho to become the first state to legalize the use of bait to hunt wolves.

The ruling does not change rules that allow bait to be used to hunt black bears. Currently, it is legal for hunters to take a wolf that responds to bear bait.

The commission also discontinued rulemaking to restrict use of game cameras and two-way electronic communications as aids to taking big game.
