Elk NetworkHere’s How to Help Elk in Arizona

General | April 9, 2018

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation’s Red Mountain Chapter, in cooperation with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, is seeking volunteers for its annual Adopt-A-Ranch work project April 28 near Payson.

This year’s project activity will include installing three water catchments made from tractor tires, as well as removing wire and posts from a section of old fencing, at the Chevelon Butte Cattle Company.

The organization will provide a barbecue dinner for all volunteers Saturday night (April 28), as well as breakfast the following morning. Volunteers who will be camping Friday night (April 27) at nearby Vincent Ranch should provide their own camping equipment, along with their own food, water and beverages for meals other than Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Volunteers also are asked to bring leather gloves, long-sleeved shirts, fence pliers and plenty of water.
