Elk NetworkHelp Shape Future of Elk in Virginia

General | November 7, 2018

What will the future hold for wild elk in the southwest portion of Virginia? The Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) wants your input.

According to WCYB-TV, VDGIF plans to host three public hearings that will help elk managers shape its elk management plan. The meetings will take place Tuesday, Nov. 13 at Honaker High School’s Baldwin Gymnasium at 1795 Thompson Creek Road, Wednesday, Nov. 14 at The Inn at Wise Grand Ballroom at 110 East Main Street and Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Wytheville Meeting Center at 333 Community Blvd.

The time for each hearing is 7-9 p.m.

The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation provided funding and volunteer manpower that led to the successful restoration of wild, free-ranging elk to their historic Virginia range in 2012-2014.
