Gear 101 | August 24, 2018

The evolution of edges is the evolution of science, of civilization. Every time you hunt, every time you unsheathe your hunting knife, You’re continuing a tradition millions of years old.

The tradition continues with Buck’s Open Season series Pro line featuring a relatively new kind of steel called s35v. It’s a slightly better version of its predecessor s30v steel. While the chemistry is too technical to get into here, all you really need to know is that this steel offer the best combination of edge-retention, corrosion resistance and durability of any knife steel today.

That’s why buck used that steel in the Open Season Series. This knife, the 537, is a blade that will last you a lifetime. It features full tang construction, which means you hold one hunk of steel, from the blade through the handle. For a fixed blade knife, it’s your best option.

The 4.5 inch blade comes razor sharp from the factory. A finger groove adds a secure feel, while the contoured Micarta handle adds even more security, especially if you’re wearing rubber gloves when field dressing your animal.

The knife measures 8.5 inches overall and comes with a black leather sheath.
