Delores “Booger” Stephens, 1942-2009
Many folks knew Delores “Booger” Stephens as a businesswoman who loved to travel, read, shop for shoes and clothes, and wear “blingy” jewelry. At the Elk Foundation, Delores was known as an ardent conservationist who generously supported the mission as a Habitat Partner, Life Member, Sponsor Member and donor.
Delores, 67, was born January 20, 1942, in Eagle Pass, Texas. She grew up in Levelland, Texas, where she attended school and worked at her mother’s hamburger stand for the gin hands during cotton harvest. She moved to Clovis, New Mexico, in 1963, where she worked in local establishments, including K-Bob’s Steakhouse. After working there for 23 years, she bought the business in 2001.
Delores lived life to the fullest. She spent a lot of her free time helping the groups she loved, including RMEF and the Clovis Special Olympics. She also loved spending time with her family, which included four children, 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Delores passed away July 27, 2009, at her home surrounded by family.
